I'm a sophomore in Mechanical Engineering, at a very good college for it, and I'd like to start making as much money as soon as possible. Are there any resources on methods for accomplishing this? I've read on here that jumping from job to job after a few years is the best way to raise your salary, and I found that surprising because I thought the best strategy was to stay and try to get promotions.

It's a little early but I want to start developing a plan. What companies to look at, how to conduct myself as an intern/entry-level employee, what kind of work I should try to be responsible for, etc...

I'd listen to any personal tips as well.
