Hey, so I could use some help. Pretty much my dilemma is this: I'm not horrible at opening. I'm not great at it, but I'm willing to go up to a girl and say hi or compliment her or say something cute, etc. I probably need to work on my energy more so that I seem more happy and genuine, as often after a long week of work, sometimes trying to go out to bars or daygame can be a bit of work or emotionally taxing. But after the open, I often get stuck. I can at times be witty, and if I connect with the girl, we have something in common, or there is something interesting going on, I may be able to come up with something fun to say. But often times I find myself in a set, having opened it, not knowing what to do and where to take it. I end up just falling back on having some boring conversation, e.g. what's your story, what do you do, where are you from, etc etc, instead of being an interesting guy that is building attraction sexual tension. It's either that or after talking to her for 2 or 3 minutes, I run out of ideas on where to take the conversation, and kind of just sputter out, ask for the phone number, get rejected and leave.
I have the odd time been watching some of Todd V's videos on his system (Open, Premise, Evaluate, Narrative, Close - currently on Premise), but I feel like I need more structure and more material. I know that it's probably not good to be scripted, but I think for me, as a beginner, having some kind of structure on where to take the conversation, maybe some routines, some material I can use on as a crutch would help, so that I can focus on my other fundamentals. Now don't get me wrong. I'm not asking for some set of magical routines that I can use after I approach a girl that will work every time. I know those don't exist, they never will. Rejections still happen, and happen a lot. I just think for a beginner, having some more structure that helps me clearly think, ok, maybe try and talk to her about this, take the conversation this way, tell her this story, etc.
I like how Todd V likens it to be a stand up comedian and how stand up comedians spend a long time trying to craft a 30 minute or 1 hour worth of material. Right now I feel that all I have is the opening joke and a little wittyness. How do you guys go about building good routines and conversations that fit your style and build attraction? Where do you find your inspiration and are there any good resources out there for a newb like me? I'm not bad with confidence, I think I just need some basic tools go help me feel like I can take a set past two minutes and build some attraction.
