Went to a social meetup event which happen to be at a night club (yay free cover). Total wall of text, if you want tl;dr and lesson learned. Go to the end.
I am doing this mainly for myself as a journal and post night-game analysis of things I could improve on. However, if it helps other people get started then great!
If you have tips and advice on my interactions. Also, very open to feedback! I would appreciate it.
If you have any questions, feel free to comment below.
Breakdown:
Start
Arrived ~11pm, still some what early as clubs here close at 3 am. There were some people in the club but it was not as packed. It definitely was a slow start, as I typically don't solo.
It was a little awkward initially because the clubs were not as packed and I just kind of stood there. The club had a bottom floor and upper floor. Bottom floor was not as packed so after standing around for a bit I went straight to the area with more people.
I went straight to the line to get a drink. As you can tell, still a lot of hesitancy and not really in the groove yet. I was not planning on drinking any alcohol so it was not like the drink will help. After I stood around line, I got a diet coke. I knew now I have no excuses. I got my drink. I have to do what I am here to do. GAME!
So, what did I do at this point ? I knew before coming into the event that the people in the meetup event will be wearing glow bracelets. I was like great, i'll start opening anyone (men and women) with bracelets.
"Hey, you with the meetup ?"
"Hows your night going ?"
after 3-5 people, I was in the groove and had some momentum. Most interaction is just open, and chat for a little bit then exit to the next person. "Hey, I am going to say hi to my friends, nice chatting with you. Have a good night".
Most opens I did up 10 people were mostly guys. Now, I am social.
On top of that, I was going around to groups and toasting everyone. "Cheers! have a good night". I wasn't particularly looking for any interaction here but just making a friendly intro for possibly later in the night when we bump into each other again. Also, It gives me an idea who's friendly and who's not from the get go.Then there was a dance circle going and I was just spectating then I continue to open guys around me saying "You are going to jump in next, right ?". I opened this guy and he seemed pretty cool.
Set 1
We saw two girl beside us and he opened them and introduced us. I notice they didn't have drinks so I was like "where is your drink ?". Then the girls saw a guy (likely their friend) and pull him into the interaction. So, what did I do ? introduce myself too.
"Hey man, hows it going, I'm X. Wheres your drink ?".
the guy: "oh, we pre-drinked so we are just chilling"
At the point, I just moved away from the interaction and said "anyways, have a good night".
Now I am kind of getting a lot of momentum. Feeling good, and social so I started to dance a little bit too.
Aside (missed opportunity)
Screw-up:
There was a group of one guy and 4 girls. One of the girl (real cute) gave me total blatant IOI by clinking my glass and saying cheers then turning around. I was obviously too stupid and didn't continue the interaction. I just kept having a good time and dancing.
Hypothesis:
The cute girl gave me blatant IOI probably because she thinks I seem fun, I was enjoying my own company and just vibing to the music. She probably observed a lot of the non-verbal actions like me talking to a lot people. Another thing I forgot to mention was, there was a group of people with a table who was getting bottle service.
So, I opened the dude on his phone and asked "what are you guys celebrating ?". He said they are celebrating their friend coming home. I was like "right on, hope you guys have a great night!". Also, when another guy was leaving the table with a drink, I toasted him too.
Multiple factors to pin down the main one at work here:
- Social proof (association with the table) - again, I don't know if she saw the interactions or not- General positive / social vibe - I was enjoying my time, dancing to the music and opening everyone
Lesson learned:
Convey a general positive and social vibe and make use of associations to boost your social proof. If you see a group of people that seem "high value" (well dressed, and good looking). Start opening them. People in the club will pick up this and associate you with being "high value".
Set 2
I saw a group of girls by the bar kind of dancing so I just showed up and said "hows your night going ?".
I notice one girl didn't have a drink so I teased her a little bit, and said "you must be the boring one of the group because you don't have a drink". We danced for a little bit in a circle.
Then we moved to a different dance floor, the club is separated into two areas with different type of music (which was pretty cool). The new dance floor was pretty empty and we kept dancing as a group there.
At this point, the group kind of started to get boring. I can tell as girls were checking their phones and started to become wall flowers a bit.
I just kept dancing by myself as usual, having a good time without them. I also, continue to open other guys.
I saw these two guys and it looks like they were practicing dance moves so I was like "are you guys part of a dance group or something ?".
Hypothesis:
Lack of escalation and isolation or engagement led to boredom. I was still dancing but it wasn't really like I was trying to engage them intimately and I need to work on that.
Women I was with, there was one pretty attractive one and rest were ok. I could of isolated her and looped in the other guys around me to fill the void with the other girls.
Lesson learned:
Engage the target, isolate and try to escalate.
Set 3
Saw a group of young cuties and I opened the group and said "where is your drink" and they thought I was going to buy them a drink (which I might if interaction was going well but its too early). One girl said its my birthday!
I was allright,
me: "I got a gift for you"
her: **"What ?"**me: "A kiss"
her: "uhhgh" (not is a disgusted way because she was some-what smiling about it but she turned around to her friends)
I didn't continue to push for the interaction as I was just trying to have a good time. So, I continue dancing and vibing.
Later on towards the night, I just started goofing around. I would introduce random guys to the group that I've met. I was like "Hey, have you met X".
I switched to a different dance floor and the group of girls came. The birthday girl gave clear IOI (look and a smile) while I was dancing by myself and having fun.
Screw-up:
Didn't engage the girl, try to isolate her.
Lesson learned:
Engage the target, isolate and try to escalate.
Set 4
Saw two girls dancing by themselves but they were facing the rail away from everyone. I notice they were wearing like flip-flop like girl shoes. So, I just opened them and said "Hey, do you guys always wear flip flops to the club ?". Obviously with a smile on my face.
Them: "Yeah, all the time. At least we don't wear hawaiian shirts" (I was wearing one, bright blue one)
One of the girl kept doing the "Namaste" pose 🙏. So, I was I said to her "Namaste, are you trying to do yoga at the club"
Me: "So, I ask her where are you coming from ?"
Her: "I'm from X city"
So, the place shes from has a reputation of people that a generally more trashy and lower class. Not always true but it seems that way with the news. She always kept giving me this look like what are you doing ? and pointing at her friend (as if, she wants me to engage her instead).
In addition, she came back with a few jabs:
Her: "What are you like 15 ?"
Her: "Do you even have friends here ?"
Me: "Your dance moves are not up to par with people from X"
She was kind of dis-engaged as she kept turning around and dancing towards the rail. Then some other guy started talking to her, she would to introduce me to them.
Me: "Do you want wing man for you or something"
Her: "No, i'm actually married" (explains the massive effort to dis-engage with men"
At this point, I started engaging the other girl.
Me: "So, how do you keep yourself busy. are you guys going to school ? working ? or live under a bridge ?"
Her: "Yeah, we're trolls. We live under a bridge. You !?"
Me: "Guess"
Her: "Accountant"Me: "No, I am actually X"Her: "oh cool"Me: **"No, I am a little less sassy at work because I have to keep it tame"**She kind of dancing but starts checking her phone.
Me: "Are you on instagram ? Most women I know are on there. I need more followers" (Me trying to get her on social media)
Her: "No, I don't really use that"
Another guy opened the other girl and she introduced me to him. And I just started chatting up the guy and said she engaged and you should keep hitting on her.
At this point, I was pretty much trying to dis-engage. So, I slowly move away and chat to other people. It was just not going anywhere.
Lesson learned:
Find better way to screen girls that are interested and just continue with that. Move on if you she isn't giving you the interaction. I probably could of gotten a number from that on girl but I didn't want to come off as pushy after asking her for instagram (she didn't seem that interested in giving me it).
Maybe I gamed it wrong here but I felt like my verbal game was good with the teases but probably didn't make her comfortable enough to give me her # or social media. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
General theme and lesson learned:
- Open Everyone for social momentum (This really does work and gets you into social mode rather than being a wallflower)
- Escalate (Try to convey your premise early on, use subtle escalation, needs work)
- Work on group engagement and isolation (especially when they give you IOI, needs works)
- Screen women for interest level (if you aren't feeling it, just say "going to say hi to some friends, have a good night and exit the interaction")
- Less fuck around and goof mode (If felt like I was slightly fucking and goofing off around too much, and to have solid game, I need to balance it)
Things to work on:
- Group engagement and isolation
- Screen women for interest level
- Escalation
- Less verbal teases and focus on building comfort (80/20)
