Long distance

I am in a LDR. It is very hard, but it’s worth it when you’re with the right person. My advise to you would be this:

1- be clear about your expectations of the relationship. Where you want this to go? What you are to each other? Are you 100% committed and will be all in because if not just spare yourself the heartbreak? How often can you meet? How often can you FaceTime and text? Etc..

2- set an end date. Dating long distance while not knowing when this will end can be very emotionally draining and you will eventually lose hope and give up on the relationship.

3- COMMUNICATE. Learn to voice what you think and what you feel clearly because the other person can’t just read your body language and understand what you need from them.

4- live your life fully and don’t let the burden of talking on the phone everyday or texting all day keep you from growing as an individual. This can create resentment and be detrimental to the relationship.

5- a loooooot of trust. I don’t need to say any more about that.

6- just know exactly why you’re doing this and remind yourself of it when it gets hard.

The exception should not be the rule. A long distance relationship is emotionally taxing on both individuals and rarely work out for anyone. You’re probably more likely to get cheated on.
