IMO, you'd probably be better off setting your eyes towards something with more immediate returns and less long-term investment since with sufficient improvement the course you chose a year ago - likely won't be as ideal as you'd wish you had chosen.

Get your act (whatever) certification to get a gun and do security odd hours while doing some more part time school (or just working another job), and/or get into welding for a short time. Should be able to finish what needs to be done in a year. Learn it well, make connections and don't bother on getting raises but instead moving vertically position wise by transferring. Maybe transfer jobs entirely.

Look at the kind of people that are 'natural born hustlers'. Charisma, industriousness, and resilience can take you far. The mindset shift you'll need to go through to succeed will border on self-delusion until it works. I know many such people and my favorite is an uncle who has done all kinds of shit. Off the top of my head he has worked in lithium mines, worked on oil rigs, welded undertground pipelines (very briefly), managed a cemetery, owns several 7/11s, and used to buy/sell/trade $100,000+ import vehicles. Always had a different 9.5/10 woman on his arm at family functions. Easily the most overt RP guy I know.

What do you have going for you now? Income per year? Vehicle? Apartment? Family you can reach out to?

CNC Machinist is pretty good, getting a class A as well and that only takes a few months.
