I started a new job a couple months back at a very large company with tons of employees. I have historically done OK with women, not amazing not bad, and recently I've really tried to change some things to yield more success.
I've just kinda been talking to everyone there. Even if they're old, even if they're unattractive, whatever.
Starting with guys, I have a solid group of guy friends there. Women like a "leader of the pack" and thus it's important to be well liked by your male peers. Being unable to sustain amicable relationships with male friends is apparently unattractive. On the flip side, someone who is able to make those same friends laugh consistently comes off as mad charismatic.
I heard a guy on a podcast talking about befriending some of the most unattractive girls in the room. Perhaps this sounds like using these people but really I've applied this, I've just had normal conversations with them and joke around with them. I don't at all feel as though I'm using them, I view them as my peers and friends. When attractive women see things like this I suppose it can create a sense of confusion and even mild feelings of jealousy? Not even sure but Ima keep doing it.
I've made friends with middle age women and women of different cultures/religions. I believe I've done so in a manner that isn't super attention-seeking. I had a job 5-6 years ago where I did something similar but was way over the top and in hindsight I probably came across as starving for attention, even though a lot of people thought I was really funny.
Ultimately, while I've annoyed 2-3 people in this process, the vast majority of them see me as someone who is nice, chill, confident. By talking with so many people, I've really given my brain a workout and starting conversations with strangers is much easier now. When I actually talk to a girl I find attractive at work, I don't feel pressure and my brain has been trained to go through this situation. I keep things light-hearted and joke around while I try to avoid small talk.
Some other little things I've changed in my daily routine: I've ramped up my workout routine and started eating a lot better. I've been eating fruit during the day because it doesn't taste bad and it can sustain your appetite for longer than you'd expect. I went to the dentist for the first time in a while, got those bitches cleaned. Style wise, I don't do anything crazy. I just try to find some decent clothes that fit well. My past neglect in this area probably cost me opportunities to get laid-- no joke! I would wear ill fitting clothing without realizing it, largely due to the fact that clothes shrink over time. These small things have had a big impact on my confidence.
