Who said that it's our main goal? There's a difference between knowing and trying to impress. When you know the way, you already become an impressive/high-value man, and that works like magic.

Honestly from my experience I never even tried to activley impress a woman, I am just myself. It works better because they see that you are a geniune guy and not fake. Girls don't want to be "impressed" they want to see your true self.

The Sure Way To Impress Any Woman
Different people have different value systems and are going to be impressed by different things.
So care ought to be taken to avoid trying to actually impress "any" woman. Not every woman is going to be impressed or interested in every guy they meet.
