This is my first redditpost.

I'm 17, pretty athletic, goodlooking (according to other friends) and a non-native english speaker so please forgive my mistakes and correct me if necessary.

I'm in love with a girl in my class (8.5). She is the perfect girl for the longtime relationship I always wanted. She is as sportive as me, shares some hobbies and is intellectual on the same level as me. I noticed that she was interested in me and we meet up a few times. I've been at her home and we had dinner with her parents (nice people) and we've been together at an open air cinema. Whe have the same friendsgroup so we've done a lot of things all together over a time of I'd say 3-4 weeks. She was writing with a few other guys during this time, like every girl of her kind. I in contrary always only wrote with one girl (in this case her).

I noticed strange behaviour by her while we were at a friends party and the day after I asked her if we could talk personally about us two.

She texted me that she thought that we didn't match each other and that she only wanted me as a friend of mine. She then said stuff like: You have an awesome character, you're kind and helpful. Ugh. As if I wanted to hear something like that.

I don't know why but I responded that it was very sad but that i undestand and accept it. That's where i may have fucked up, at the latest.

this happened last Sunday and since then I haven't seen or texted her. tomorrow i'll go into vacation with my family, where i presumably won't have internetconnection. Now one of my best friends (in a relationship for 3.5 years) told me to tell her before I go that I'm still into her because a lot can happen in 3 weeks, but on the other hand I don't want to be the one running after her. Somehow I think this will make me look weak. Should I show her the cold shoulder (is this even real english?) and await a reaction. Maybe move on to other girls and see how she reacts? with the risk that she has a new one.

Or should I tell her like my friend told me?
