Just wanted to share and ask for some additional advice. I’m 24 and just got out of a long term relationship (approximately 3 and a half years) and I have been getting back into the swing of the dating scene. I’m around 6’2 and have an athletic build and am fairly good looking but I have typically relied on online dating/dm’s or meeting through friends in the past, never really have engaged in cold approaches.

I decided to try and start cold approaching after reading a bunch of posts on this page. I have attempted three so far and ended up with 2 numbers for dates set up later this week and the other said she had a boyfriend but we still chat occasionally at the gym. The girl that had a boyfriend would be an 8 while the other two would be 7.5s. My approach is usually some sort of funny comment or response / making an observation based on the situation. For example, the one was a barista at a local coffee shop and she asked how my day was and I responded with “well that depends on how good the latte you make me tastes” which resulted in her laughing and then us casually chatting for 5 minutes after that which led to eventually getting her number and setting up a date for drinks.

The problem I am having though is I feel I still lack the confidence to go for the women I would ideally be interested in. There are lots of women at the gym that I would consider 9+ but I never have the courage to approach. Part of that being actually not being able to come up with a relaxing opener since the gym appears to be a difficult setting. Also, if I was to approach I would assume not asking for the number in the first interaction since I see a lot of these women consistently and could ask at another time (unless there’s obvious strong chemistry from that chat).

Anyway, I would love to hear some advice on approaching those types of really beautiful women as I find in person is always the best way to meet them as they get showered with attention online. I know that based on 2/3 successful cold approaches maybe the approach shouldn’t change but I find I wouldn’t be my same confident and relaxed self approaching these types of women.
