Hey y’all, Katie here! I’m 22 and work as a barista at Starbucks. I love meeting new people and connecting with others whether it’s grabbing a drink at the local bar or having a fun chat with regulars at work. I’m pretty good at making friends, but I’ve noticed something about myself that I’d love to change: I often hold myself back in social situations, especially in groups. I can talk to anyone, but sometimes I feel like I come off a little reserved or "interview-y," especially when I’m in a bigger crowd. I want to be more spontaneous, let loose, and really vibe with people without worrying about how I’m coming across. I want to be able to joke around, be goofy, and just have fun without overthinking everything. It’s like I’m standing on the sidelines, unsure whether I should jump in or just let others take the spotlight. I’ve started taking improv classes to get more comfortable with thinking on my feet and letting myself be a little more playful. I’ve also been working on my self-esteem and learning to let go of past insecurities. But even with that, I still feel like there’s a missing piece when it comes to truly embracing who I am in the moment. So, I’m curious what practices or advice do you have for letting go of self-doubt and just being more present and carefree in social situations? How do you embrace the fun, silly side of yourself without feeling like you’re overdoing it? Would love to hear your tips on how to just be more relaxed and confident when connecting with others! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts! :)
