Ben Obese-Jecty MP @BenObeseJecty Today my bill, calling for the Government to implement a strategy to tackle Interpersonal Abuse and Violence Against Men and Boys was due for Second Reading.

Alas, with the remaining stages of the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill as the first item there was no time to cover my Bill. It will now be read on Friday 13th June.

Whilst there is only a very slim chance that the Bill will be allotted time to be discussed, it is vital to keep this Bill on the Order Paper and in the Government’s view, particularly as the Safeguarding Minister writes the new strategy for tackling Violence Against Women and Girls for publication in the coming weeks. It is imperative that a dedicated strategy for men and boys is written in parallel.

I will continue to lobby @jessphillips to ensure that calls from male victims and survivors are heeded.
