A few months ago I told my wife I wanted a divorce. This wasn't the first time I had said it, but it was the last.
A long story short she changed right after getting married and having a baby. For the sake of my son I tried for two years to make it work, I even threatened her with divorce, hoping she would take me seriously.
She was abusing me through manipulation, gaslighting etc. Even though I was aware of her game I tried to get through to her, but after counseling and trying to mend our marriage I realized it was time to give up before it destroyed me.
I wrote long posts to vent but never posted, it was especially difficult after reading some of the absolute horror stories that some of you have lived through.
I've been in a constant state of stress thinking about what she might do to fuck me over, I love my son and have mostly been the one looking after him, he isy little mini me. I couldn't think of anything worse than not having him in my life. I've had sleepless nights worrying over it.
I got off really lucky, I don't live in the U.S do I have a right to my son. I'm happy that I've got him 50/50 with equal rights to him legally we have joint custody.
I don't need to pay alimony here either. Right now money is tight, since I am paying for rent on an apartment while keeping up payments on our house, but the house is for sale so hopefully it'll be sold very soon.
I'm just very grateful it's all over now and already I feel less stressed and I'm finally at peace and my son (2) is thriving too.
I will never get married again, nor will a woman ever move in with me. Life 2.0 is just beginning for me and I'm excited for it.
Although I'm relieved, I feel a little sad too, the life I thought we would have basically vanished.
It's a bittersweet feeling.
there doesn't seem to be anything here
