Young woman here, I need some male perspective. I recently came across certain videos of English male model David Gandy. Various interviews where he discusses the lack of good role models for young men, how he’s concerned with certain narratives cartoons might be promoting to children, and how he thinks that anyone under the age of 18 shouldn’t belong in social media (which I absolutely agree on). The comments section? Absolutely brutal. Though, not exactly for the reasons you might think.

You’d think that the comments would be attacking him for being an Andrew Tate 2.0 or for being a misandrist wanting to turn young men into simps. Wrong! The comments can be divided into two categories: one part acknowledging the terrible damage that people like Andrew Tate have inflicted on social media and the other part claiming that one of the most handsome men in the world has no right to comment or speak about young men or just the average man in general.

And here is what I don’t understand…men have been demanding good role models for our boys for years. And now that we might have someone who’s not a scammer, doesn’t prey on the weaknesses of desperate men, it’s free of controversies and criminal associations…instead of evaluating and analyzing his words…their solely focus is on his appearance?

Could it be simply be pure jealousy? Definitely. I’m aware that part of the ‘appeal’ of Andrew Tate is being below average in terms of attractiveness yet still pulling prostitutes worth millions. I’m also aware that the male and female gender can sometimes experience the sentiment of jealousy and envy a little differently. So that’s why I’m asking for a male perspective. Do y’all think that handsome men should step away from this movement since they might be too out of touch…or are certain people just being radically shallow?
