I looked at /u/AsianAway 's book list and It seemed good. but in a sort of "non-fiction" "self help" book sort of way. Which is fine, but sometimes I just want to sit down with a whiskey and read a novel.
Does anyone have recommendations for Novels that you enjoy? preferably some TRP mindset (doing, improving, bettering yourself as a man, etc)
Two of my favorites are
- Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance - Robert M. Pirsig.
A father and his son are on a motorcycle trip across America, as he recounts and remembers his previous self and what lessons he's learnt along the way. Very top notch and full of really good quotes.
"Is it hard?' Not if you have the right attitudes. Its having the right attitudes that's hard."
seriously so many good quotes in this book, just read it.
- Great Expectations - Charles Dickens.
About a young poor boy's life as he leaves his home and goes into education to win the heart of a girl. Values are questioned, friendships are formed, swindlers be damned. It's a great book.
But my book list is very short atm. I'm currently starting some Wilbur Smith books, so we'll see how they go.
