I can't see what's laughable here? This has nothing to do with women in society, this has to do with being held responsible for creating a child. Responsibilities include providing necessities through money, children are expensive. You could be confusing divorce settlements with child support, a rationally calculated amount of child support is ok, in my books anyway.
