Three weeks ago my girlfriend and I broke up. She willingly moved into the living room. Since our break up she has insisted that I have to leave the house within 30 days. I have been on the hunt but nothing suitable has come up. I was crushed by a van last Spring and can't walk far so I'm forced to live close to public trans and also make very little money. Regardless, she continued to ridicule my every move and continuously threatened to call the land lord and lie about my behavior in order to have me evicted.
We have dealt with the police in the past. In early December she choked, scratched, and threatened to kill me in my sleep. In order to protect herself she called the police and claimed I had assaulted her. The police arrived, saw my injuries, asked if I'd like to press charges (I didn't), and then just dropped the whole thing given my peaceful demeanor and her lack of evidence.
Last night I came home to make dinner for myself and a friend. One thing led to another and she had throw my dinner down the drain and was beating my television with a frying pan. I blocked my room. She called the police and then hit me with the pan on the shoulder. Our neighbor, a Latino mother, asked my ex if she should lie to the cops and tell them she saw me beating her. She then offered to have her children jump me the next time they saw me on the street. My ex agreed and asked her to do both of those.
The police came and spoke with my ex. I was in the kitchen, head in hands, and never heard them arrive. She left to get an emergency eviction notice. I called the police back to my house and told them what actually happened. They were told I was an alcoholic and had smashed her head against a wall and thrown her down the stairs of which I had done neither.
The next thing I know there is a PFA on my bed and I can not enter my own house without a police escort. There is not one scratch on my ex and I have never hit her. I have never felt so low and betrayed. I am scared for my life. I have a pair of broken glasses, 4 broken phones, and a smashed guitar that I will be taking to court Friday as evidence against my ex but I feel like it won't hold up against her cute face and obscene lies. I never thought it would happen to me. I never thought being a man would cause me so much trouble.
tl; dr Ex girlfriend threatened to lie to cops about me abusing her and then did. Now I am couch surfing.
Update: I've avoided all contact with her and have places lined up for each night of this week, friends are great. I'm scheduled to get an EMG on my foot tomorrow. The long walks to and from the subway each day are starting to do some damage. I plan on mentioning this at the hearing on Friday @ 1. Thanks for all the advice and kind words.
Update: She just texted me. "Willing to not go through with the pfa if you agree to move out." I'm assuming she would want me to move immediately. I do not have the money to pay for a truck. I do not have the money to pay for the deposit on a new room even if I were able to find a suitable one. I also don't think I should be forced out of the house so she can drop phony charges against me? Thoughts?
2/1 Update: The judge granted a continuation due to her graduation from college. The new hearing date is 2/13. The good news is that I have been given permission to enter the property without police supervision! I was not able to speak with the judge. The judge's assistant told me to bring any documented evidence that will work in my favor with me next time. I plan on bringing photos and receipts for the damaged property. I do have a witness from an event in August that may come forward. My ex snapped my phone and clocked me in the face in front of a whole van of people while we were driving to Chicago. I did not respond violently. Things are looking on the up. I haven't entered the house yet but I plan on doing so this weekend once her family leaves and the graduation celebration dies down.
