I joined the military after highschool, and am now moving up to college. I've been taking classes at a satellite campus near me, so I'll be a junior when I move up there. I am a couple years older than the people in my grade, and even most of the seniors. I have the option now to choose between living in a dorm, and getting an apartment with roommates.
My first immediate thought was to get the apartment, but lately I've been trying to expose myself to as many life experiences as I can. I think experiencing as much variety as you can, is one of the most invaluable, sure ways to grow as a person. So, now I'm thinking that I want that college experience of living in a dorm. Not really worried about making friends, I find that the easiest part, but it would definitely make it effortless living in the dorm.
My problem is, I'm worried that I'm either going to absolutely love it, or find it abhorrent. I know I'll be older, but I would plan on not flaunting it because of people asking me to buy them alcohol. I want to go to parties, but I'm worried about being the only person of legal drinking age there. What if something fucking crazy at the party happens, and I'm the only one over 21? Would I be at risk?
I find it advantageous that I'm more experienced than most of classmates, and now have swallowing the pill for a while. I think I have the potential to make my time at college an amazing experience. So much potential for growth.
