An aspect of this street harassment I'm wondering about is where this is all supposedly happening and what kind of man is doing it. A lot of these hipster chicks that write these live in recently gentrified areas that are adjacent to poor minority neighborhoods where I can totally see Jamal and Jose talking shit to white girls on the street. I have zero evidence for this and this is just rampant speculation though

There is a guy called george godley who used to get posted to /r/cringe a great deal. He goes around london with a camera 'flirting' . He's pretty useless but the amount of beta shaming he received from commenters in the threads and on the youtube comments was quite incredible.

Straight men can sometimes experience street "harassment" not from women but from gay or bi men (especially after you start lifting weights and eating right).

A few times gay men have flirted with me on the street -- asking me on dates, complimenting me, and so on. I was also at a large outdoor street party and -- lo and behold -- some random gay dude had pinched my ass.

Was I ever "offended" or felt "harassed"? Nope. I take it as a compliment every fucking time, because it shows that my years of working out and eating right have improved my overall look. I'd take it as even more of a compliment if it were a woman, since I'm straight but either way I say "thanks" and move on.

The same women who blast dudes for complimenting them on the street in public are often the same ones who -- a decade or so later -- are lamenting about how they never "get any looks anymore" or how men don't find them attractive anymore. Why aren't the praising their "harassment-free" life now?

A highly detailed and in depth survey would be interesting. Instead of, "men are pigs," it would be nice to come back with, "uneducated guys, below a certain income level, with their friends, are pigs that perpetuate ugly stereotypes."

I have never, in my entire life, seen anyone whistling, honking or leering at any woman. Never seen a woman being groped in public (excluding a club here).
