So what your telling us is that you wanted a business only phone but instead of buying a cheap phone for business you deleted everyone's number out of you phone then when asked about it didn't explain why you did. Great job dude bravo

Being IDGAF doesn't mean you can stomp into other people.

They respect the attitude, because they see you are independent. Not because they see an arrogant fuckface.

If you want to build your empire, and be the true leader, don't unnecessarily punish your "followers." He didn't do anything wrong, so by not explaining the situation considerately (if it was at all really that necessary to delete his contact in the first place,) just seems like undeserved punishment in his eyes.

Did you want to lay him off?

You could have done that in a friendlier way. If you may want his "services" once again, you will have a much higher position to start off from.

Otherwise: maintain frame, be considerate, but firm. Let him know you have no bad intentions, and whenever he tests you for empathy or anything else, let him know your decision is for YOUR OWN best interest. Do not get apologetic. You can take the blame off of him too, so he doesn't feel turned down.
