TL;DR : Would you classify the character Elliot of the film Flight of the Phoenix an Alpha?

Long version: Just a for fun discussion. The ones among you who have watched The Flight of the Phoenix (2004) please feel free to post your thoughts.

To me the character Elliott is a benchmark of Alpha. He gets the plane rebuilt, he makes the Pilot follow his orders, he kills the prisoner cold blooded 'cause water is in short supply, and he solves the problem of escaping the desert.

Yet he is always secluded. The woman finally chooses the Pilot who is, mostly, an emotional wuss.

I am aware that it is a Hollywood film, and probably exaggerated. But I have seen people like Elliott who gets the problem solved, in their way, are often secluded.

If Alpha-ness is about getting things your way, leading people, and fighting adversity, then Elliott is the champion. Yet he is hated by everyone.

What is your take on that? This question is intended to be a low intensity relaxed discussion/debate over the weekend . Looking forward for your answers.
