I don't think I've ever seen a CV with a photo. Most jobs DGAF what you look like; in fact they actively avoid caring b/c lawsuits. But then I work mostly office jobs.

I believe actors and models typically include photos because in entertainment they can and do actively discriminate against dogs, fatties and minorities.

1-Only meat market places want photos. Even if you want to work at that kinda place, and you look good enough to play along-you are better off dropping off the resume in person but without a photo. Ask for a manager or just engage in some friendly conversation with the person that takes your resume. They'll make a note in the TRC, usually about your availability but often with the impression you made. Good looks/photos don't mean much if you aren't personable.

The real issue is that you're placing fake job ads...don't do that, even for research only. NO NO NO. Where the hell did you come up with that? Like, before you started applying, just for research? Or after months of fruitless applications?

It's up to personal taste, but it also depends on the requeriments of the job posting. Some ask for photo, most don't. Personally, I don't like to include one in my own, and to my knowledge it hasn't hurt my ability to be called and/or get interviews.

If you're inclined to attach a photo, you should have it taken professionally. Before getting it taken, you should get a haircut, wear well-fitting clothes that go according to the job posting, shave or get your beard in line and clean your face. Remember you have no idea where your resume may end up, and you must do what it takes to stand out from the rest of the applicants and good presence is important.

Now, if you're ugly it will hurt you more than it helps to include a picture. So there's that.

I was co-responsible for looking through 50 applications for a job as my coworker this week. It bothered when there was no picture. It helps so much to give an impression of the person so I'd say - if you can include a picture you can stand by a 100% and it'll be count positively for you.

I've never had a problem getting a server/bartender job within 10 days of submitting my first application. Here are my steps.

Resume: Lie on it, make up experience. 99% wont check. Some people will say you shouldn't lie. Those people never worked in the service industry. Everybody gets their start by lying. If need be, use your friends numbers as references. Restaurants never call though.
Submit your resume to a relevant subreddit for critique. Really make sure it's fucking sparkling.
Go to kinkos or your local equivalent and spend the extra money to get it printed on really good paper. Trust me on this, this is absolutely critical and it will make a huge difference. Get 100 copies.
Dress well, sport coat is clutch here. Go to the downtown area of your city and give out all your resumes. Reminder, this is your first interview. You should be going when they first open or around 2-3 pm just after the lunch rush when people will have time to speak to you. Smile, be charming, banter but don't linger.
If you want to be next level, call a few days before and find out what the managers name is. When you go to submit your application, ask to speak with the manager by name. Any decent server/bartender knows to filter randos from legitimate contacts. Asking by name will typically mean the difference between, "Sorry, they're not available" and "I'll go stop him from what he's doing". Also, you'll have piqued the managers interest and he'll want to know who asked for them by name.

Idk about UK but if you do all these things in any major US city, you're practically guaranteed a job provided you can hold a conversation. Also, figure out before hand exactly what job your looking for. Don't say Bartender/dishwasher/cashier. You'll look desperate and unattractive.
