Went to another families house with my family. Im 20 I was sitting in a dining room with 2 other men one being my father and the man of the house that invited us.The women sat seperatley and did their talking and same with younger kids. 2 years ago i would be prolly sitting with the men but not talking and a year before that when i was 17 i would be with the younger kids messing around with them. But the last 2 years ive been making an effort to talk in social settings where im not seen as dominant. Seeing as im 25 years younger then them and we were speaking in our mother tongue which im not as knowledgeable about i cant communicate that well although i am fluent.
Well long story short i kept getting cut off especially by the other guy(not my father) every time i said anything. sometimes they both would listen to me talk or expand on ideas. But i wanted your guys tips and tricks in getting involved in conversations with people who might hold more "power".So what are your tricks in making bosses, older men and more powerful men listen to you. No I wasnt talking to much, I actually only listened the first 10 minutes. I am able dominate conversations with people my age easily this one setting was difficult. Could be the guy was just rude . Thoughts suggestion?
By dominate I dont mean have people hear me talk the whole time I mean being respected while i talk. I did talk confidently and was loud but i was repeatedly cut off and that normally doesn't happen. Id also definitely like some tips on how to talk to my superiors at any job and making the my superiors nervous when i talk to them so they feel like im holding the power. Thanks guys
