So for a long time, I've been familiar with the redpill only as the "actually misogynistic version of men's rights". I've browsed here a few times, enough to get a good idea of the philosophy, but found the level of cynicism off-putting.
Cue the last month. I'd been seeing a girl for about two months. We had a mutual disinterest in a full relationship and had agreed to just be friends with benefits. We also decided to live together as roommates (along with another friend). In the beginning, I was actually doing quite well. She was in a three year relationship with a pure beta bucks guy - he was as beta as you get, but he works at google, so at least had money going for him. She said she felt trapped and smothered in the relationship and saw me as reminder that excitement and sexuality still existed in the world outside her relationship. Long story short, we fucked, she broke up with him, and things were pretty awesome for about two months after that.
Then two things happened - she had a painful surgery that prevented her from having sex for a couple weeks, and she completely failed at a major project she was working towards. She was in a lot of pain both emotional and physical. Naturally, I wanted to help. But I went above and beyond what I should have done - I catered to her every need for a week after. Bought her food, ran errands, sat by her when she "couldn't be alone." Dealt with her rage when she would turn her pain on me. Abandoned my own world. I wanted her to be ok so we could go back to having fun. I realized that I was behaving way more like a boyfriend than I ever wanted to with her, but I kept rationalizing it.
We haven't had sex since.
She completely lost interest in me as soon as she recovered, and started seeing two other friends of hers who got back into town (one of whom is her ex). After I asked her what changed and what was going on, she told me that she didn't want to be physical with me anymore because she thought I was jealous and a burden.
This whole situation reminded me of some of the basic redpill ideas - that being a provider/responsive guy is a huge turn-off. I almost feel like the amount of help I provided her during her difficult times is precisely what caused her to lose interest in me completely. Since then I've been avidly reading these subreddits.
Only question is - what now? I know that continuing to pursue her is a bad idea. I'm not going to focus on her at all anymore. Only issue is, I still live with her and see her on a daily basis, so I'm forced to focus on her somewhat. How should I interact with her? I'm not going to count on ever getting back to where we were and am actively pursuing other girls, but I also want to get back to a level of at least mutual respect with her.
