I am 24yrs old and still live at home, I am beginning studies in 3 weeks and I have a job lined up for when I finish. All in all in about 7 months time I WILL be moving out of home finally so this is awesome. I will also be out of the house 4 days a week when I begin my studies and mixing with random people which is great for building confidence.
My problems are that I have had no friends for 2 years now and it is truly beginning to make me feel isolated and I have a very hard time putting myself out there due to being bullied in high school. I have a mom who sometimes drinks too much and she causes arguments with my dad and generally it makes me feel like a fucking kid again.
I lift and eat well, dress well and overall am trying to act as adult as I can, but I feel so incredibly behind compared to most other people my age. I play piano every day and go out once a week on my own to stay sane and avoid becoming full retard. But I am not sure it is enough anymore.
I have been reading that depression is a sign that you are growing or need to grow in order to lose the depression and I think this is mostly true. However I don't know what it is that I should change in order to become more happy. I don't mean happy all the time but just less thoughts and feelings of wanting to go back to bed once I wake up every damn day.
I don't use social media or watch TV / listen to radio, I mostly read Reddit for news content. So it's not about comparing myself that is sending me into a funk.
I sometimes wonder if this is completely normal among people my age and that I am not as "behind" as I think I am?
