... (AKA #WhyIHamstered)
Have folks seen this #WhyIStayed bullshit online lately?
Its some kind of Excuse-hamstering phenomenon.
It is annoying THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF ME.
As IF AS IF women had ZERO human agency. Yes, they take very little to zero responsibility... but surely they have agency?
a·gen·cy (jn-s) n. pl. a·gen·cies 1. The condition of being in action; operation. 2. The means or mode of acting; instrumentality.
Well... apparently they have none. I don't know how to explain it, I am not at Yoda-level TRP status yet. But... the fact that they blame their abuser for their own inability to leave?
Jeebus... Every single day I lose more and more faith in an entire half of humanity.
Here is a link to a run down: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/09/09/whyistayed-twitter-domestic-violence_n_5790320.html?ncid=fcbklnkushpmg00000046
Now.. check out that first tweet, it says it all.
"I tried to leave the house once after an abusive episode, and he blocked me. He slept in front of the door that entire night. #WhyIStayed"
ARE YOU SHITTING ME? Do you live in a house with no windows? Do you know how to operate a window or are you mentally incapacitated?
Could you not call the police, or some male in your life to come "rescue" you b/c apparently you can't extricate yourself from a simple "leave the area" situation?? Jeeeeeeeebus.. I can't even begin to explain how annoying and frustrating this sort of shit is to even conceive...
Ultimately, the only reason that anyone stays w/ an abusive person is b/c they're by definition ignorant, lack agency and perhaps are stubborn and gullible as well. There are not many other realistic reasons.
Anyone else have any #WhyIStayed to share?
