Hey gents. I recently started to date a girl that I’ve known for a little over a year. We decided to be bf/gf even though the relationship would be, for the time being, long distance (awful idea). Clearly we have chemistry and an affinity for one another or would not have made that decision. The relationship lasted about four weeks and then I got the stereotypical “I can’t do this” text message. She asked if we could be friends and I told her that it would be a mistake and that I wasn’t interested in being her friend. A few weeks went by and then she called me. Initially I sent her ass to voicemail then texted her “what?” . She asked to talk and I complied. She gave me the “I may have made the wrong choice”, “I wish you were here”, “what if I move back there”, “why can’t we be friends still” bullshit song and dance. I held frame and let her know being friends with a failed relationship is often a hollow friendship and if either one of us would have residual feelings that it would be fucking stupid to keep it contact. She was disappointed and I basically told her tough shit and that she’ll have to live with her choice. I didn’t expect that phone call and know that any future contact will require a calculated response. I don’t think this is a oneitis account because I definitely have the abundance mentality. I certainly still have feelings for her; just not sure how to proceed.

Notes:

She’s not use to dating established men like myself (I have a career and her ex’s sound like douch nozzles).

She asked why a guy like me would be interested in someone like her (I told her I wasn’t interested in making a list for her to hang on her goddamn refrigerator)

She considers me a “rich kid” as she’s arguably from a lower class family than mine.

Thanks.
