Lurker, first time poster, thanks for the advice TRP, this shit works, blah blah blah...
Alright, it's business time
TL;DR This is a long post; one part FR, and one part question. We took a train to a new city, I kept frame, and barely made it home with our clothes on. I also have a question regarding talking to women who are developing their opinions on gender roles. Can I intervene? Does it backfire? Is it best to just watch from the sidelines?
Background and Pre-TRP
I was in a previous LTR where I acted like a classic Beta. She left me for someone else, I felt like shit, and that's all I need to say about that. Lesson learned.
The reason I was originally drawn to TRP was that I was noticing the fire between us was dwindling, and I was more and more suspicious of similar tendencies with my last gf, which I did not want to repeat. I'm sure she smelled the insecurity, which made me look for answers. Among other things, TRP gave me answers. I've been slowly introducing what I've been learning so that it seems natural. Mostly changes in perspective, which have then been translating into my behavior. I started lifting/kickboxing, reading more, standing up for myself and not pleasing others. In short, treating my time as valuable by actually making it valuable.
I think I've come to the following conclusion: I don't see any seriously long-term commitment here with this person, but I like the company and language lessons. She could be gone tomorrow and I would have more trouble trying to figure out what to make for dinner.
After taking TRP and Field Report
There are a couple instances where I can recall my assertiveness worked out for the best. One day we got to talking about how people develop over time, and as you can guess this got to talking about kids and raising them. I was speaking more from an angle like, I think people are like this..., where she said something along the lines of, I would do this if I had kids, what would you do.... I didn't like the way this conversation was going, so I said alright, stop. We have talked about raising kids for long enough, and now it feels like you are testing me whether I'll be a good father. I will not be having kids anytime soon, and I want to stop talking about this now. Done. She reacted in a very surprised way, and started apologising profusely and saying how she understands, blah blah blah.
My confidence has shot through the roof lately, and I know that she isn't the only one who can tell. Now that I have the idea and attitude that she is being given the gift of being allowed to do stuff with me, her attitude has completely changed as well. Take for example this weekend, I tell her we are going to take a train to another city and just go explore for the day. I don't even remember asking her what she wanted all day except for when we ate; all other instances (like where to sit as soon as we get in the train) were decided upon by me before she could even ask. I could tell she just felt at ease the entire day, it got to the point where she acted like she was just sailing and being steered into calm bay, after calm bay, after calm bay. Everytime we stopped to look around, or at the map, she could not keep her hands off me and told me that she wanted to rip my clothes off and couldn't wait to get home. Needless to say, I've been making her scream way harder these days.
The Question for TRP
We talked about our sexual past a few weeks ago, and the topic of sexual advances that were made unto us and we turned down and why. Her's were obvious, cat calling and otherwise obnoxious drunk dudes. My experience was basically about this girl that slept with everyone in my highschool group of friends and had given me plenty of opportunities, but for some reason it never sat well in my gut. I referred to her as the neighborhood bike (in hindsight, probably not a good idea), which she later told me she took offense too because it makes her uncomfortable about her own history. She didn't know why she felt uncomfortable, and has started looking for answers online in the form of feminist websites. With that being said, our conversations have because more about the differences in gender roles, which has been interesting to say the least.
Here is the kicker though: she h
