A lady friend of mine recently posted this quote on Facebook: "You should be with someone who smears your lipstick, not your mascara.", and I replied with a link to this classic scene from Gone With The Wind.

I had looked up the scene because her quote reminded me of Rhett's iconic line: "You should be kissed, and often, by someone who knows how."

But watching the entire scene again (now that I've taken the Pill) was astounding. Every single beat is classic Red Pill Theory, from what he says to what he does to how she reacts.

Give it a watch, and I'll point out some of the things I noticed. Please share your observations as well.

  • "Those pantalets..." - A little playful negging to begin. He's a classy motherfucker who's plenty secure in his masculinity to have an opinion on fashion. He's not parroting, either. He's speaking from his own experience and taste. He's not being cruel. He's telling it like it is.

  • "Oh, what do they...you shouldn't talk about such things." - The uncontrolled excitement then the complete shutdown by the hamster.

  • Notice his reaction...a chuckle then he calls her out. Perfect response to a shit test. Amused detachment at its best.

  • "I'm not kind. I'm just tempting you." - Complete transparency about his intentions. Don't act like we're not talking about what we're talking about.

  • "Don't flatter yourself. I'm not a marrying man." - No commentary required.

  • "I won't kiss you for it, either" - The hamster is back. And just watch what she does next.

  • "That's what's wrong with you..." - Telling it like it is, with no fear of retaliation. Then when she does reply, it's just...

  • "You're a conceited, blackhearted varmint..." ...another shit test.

  • "I don't know why I let you come and see me." Another great chuckle from Rhett, and then:

  • "I'll tell you why..." While I love everything about his reply here, make sure to watch her face. That little smirk that she's hiding from him. And the tiny lip bite in the last few frames.

She knows exactly why she lets him come see her. Because he's Rhett Fucking Butler. She just refuses to come out and say it, because the hamster wheel spins on, my friends.
