Hi guys I am starting university (or college depending on where your from) in september and this is my first real experience being out of home as I grew up in quite a sheltered environment, having never drank, gone out or met people. I also come from an all boys school.

I going to be studying psychology at quite a prestigious uni (I knew its a shit degree but I intend to study postgraduate) and the majority of the course is female.

I dont think I will fit in there as I am from a pakistani origin and the majority there are white. I also come from quite a rough background and the rest of the university come from upper middle class backgrounds. Should I attempt to fit in or try and feel comfortable with the fact that I am different and try and use that as a positive factor?

Anyway, I would like to know how I can make good first impressions and assert myself as confident and alpha in order to gain success and status amongst them

I've rarely lacked self confidence, I am 18 and have been lifting aswell as competing in bjj and boxing since around 14/15, however I have never had much experience in a social environment as most of my hours outside school have been spent training. My main area of self conciousness may come from my below average height of 5 7. I have no idea how to pick up girls or any of that shit and the prospect of moving 3 hours away from home to study a course for 3 years that is majority female and a different demographic than I am used to scares me a lot.

I have a low n count of 2 (2 girlfriends) that I would like to raise during my time at uni. And having grown up in a lower class pakistani/black area of the uk, I have very little experience of socializing with the calibre of people that are at university, which makes me nervous af for some strange reason. I want to make a good impression and not have them look down on me.

Sorry if any of the info here seems unneccessary I just wanted to give you an understanding of the type of person I am so the advice can be more accurate

Thanks
