Should it even be utilized?

We all know social media is everywhere. It's a rampant part of our lives, and not utilizing it, or utilizing it less than "normal", can even be seen as a peculiarity in today's society. There have been intellectuals like Cal Newport who go so far as to say you should eliminate social media all together. Personally, I believe a lot of what he has to say, but whether or not you should make use of social media ultimately depends on what you plan to achieve with it. If you're trying to broadcast your social status, either to attract women or to establish your place on a social ladder which is what we're discussing in this post, proper utilization of social media can be an excellent method of doing so. This post is meant to encompass its use to embellish or supplement general social standing, in addition to just attracting pussy because, the two can go hand in hand so uniformly.

For starters, using social media as a means of advertising one's social status can very easily be a double-edged sword. For example, I don't go to many big sexy social events or go on all kinds of wacky trips and outings with beautiful people. I have a small circle and few close friends. On top of the general lack of "awesome shit" that I do on the weekends, I just hate being that douche taking photos for his instagram that nobody even really cares about anyway. I feel like one of the vapid cunts I'm trying to lay.

Now, even I may not be filling my IG or SC feed with cringey selfies of myself in bad lighting, the simple lack of naturally attractive content getting posted often, like myself on a beach with a Chad friend group, can say just as much about me socially and as a person. More specifically, it leaves certain statements unanswered, and those blank spaces on the page can potentially be filled in with negative assumptions. He doesn't have any group photos? Doesn't he have any cool friends? Where are the shots from his camping trips? What a boring guy! What an unscenic location... yadda yadda yadda...

What you don't broadcast, or are unable to as many will likely assume, says just as much about you as what you do broadcast. Often times, people are on the lookout for what's missing as often as what is present, and they don't even do it consciously. It's like noticing pieces missing from a puzzle. They may not be browsing your profile or feed looking for images from an awesome boat party with lots of beautiful people, but the fact that nothing even remotely similar to that genre ever makes an appearance, is still something that people will pick up on. Unless you are able to claim that you simply never use the apps, which can be legitimate, but only if your other usage on the app really is rare, it can be a detriment to the image you would like to convey, or to the air of mystique that you would otherwise retain, which can be especially useful especially when you factor in the power of the Halo Effect.

For these reasons and many others (again, Google Cal Newport's TED), I chose to opt out of pretty much all social media a while back. When it comes to those mediums, it is my own opinion that if it is not actively being utilized to help you broadcast a total image of what you desire others to see, and this is extremely difficult to do (see paid social influencers), then actually, it could likely be causing some harm. The fact of the matter is, I'm sure some females would be put off if they saw just how limited my social life really is. They'd get insecure about hooking up with a guy they couldn't verify is already largely socially popular and accepted. They could even go to the extreme and assume the worst, so I simply don't give them a chance to. I let them continue to stare at all the sparkling and glimmering reasons they do want to fuck me, while taking any possible shade or dirt out of the presentation entirely. Nine times out of ten, at the end of the day when I suggest going back to theirs, they still want to fuck me, even with my small social circle, so why would I deliberately put up a barrier that could lessen our chances of meeting up in the first place?

Have I had drawbacks? Of course, the most common one and the quickest to notice is that a lack of social media is a very big red flag on apps like Tinder and Bumble. As someone with a six-pack at over 200lb, girls see the lack of verifiable profiles and quickly assume I'm a catfish. Has it killed some chances for me? Sure. But I'm betting that the pros of going without it still outweigh missing out on getting my dick wet a few extra times.

How should it be exploited?

Now, for those of you that do make use of it, what strategies, if any, do you typically employ to see the greatest return on your time investment? When I still used instagram, I found myself trying to be braggy with it, posting vacation highlights and pictures of myself without my shirt on. Even then, it all felt pretty cringey. Sure, I may be pretty jacked compared to most average Joes, but put me up against these juiced up models with 50k+ followers and I look like a weak slob. However, my rationale was that even if you have the greatest product ever, if you don't market it, people will never know. I figured I was marketing my highlights because at the end of the day, I do have a body that most people don't. It is something relatively rare and the market values scarcity. Again, at the end of the day, I still figured I'd be better off just getting off the train. Unless I get to that point where I can start seeing some kind of financial return on an account, which I doubt will ever happen and I'm not sure I'd want it to, I think I'll stay out.... ^(But persuade me otherwise.)
