Long story but I could use advice.
I had started to tell my husband about this audiobook Ive been listening to. He seemed like he was in a bad mood when I was telling him about it, so I was a little apprehensive.
Then he said something that I took wrong/personal when responding/giving his opinion about the book, (he said something was total bullshit, then used a mistake I made as proof of how stupid the point was, I took it as him throwing this mistake in my face) so I told him I didn't want to talk anymore. I knew this conversation wasnt going to go anywhere good based off of what he said. He then starts to argue me on it.
I say I think this is why we arent working out. He leaves, hurt by my comment. I lay down to go sleep because I have to wake up early.
He then comes in, all pissed off, turns the lights on, refuses to leave the room, and keeps me awake.
We ended up staying up for the next 4 hours arguing over this, although the majority of the time I spent telling him I didnt want to talk and stone walling him after he didn't listen.
I told him that he was controlling for forcing the conversation after I made it beyond clear that I wanted to end it. I said I thought it was within my right to end the conversation. He said I started the discussion but I was wrong for wanting to end it. "you can't just start a conversation and end it whenever you want" I made an analogy that a conversation is like sex. You should be able to stop anytime. He said that was bullshit.
He tells me that I was controlling because I wanted to control the conversation and not let him give his opinion, that I was disrespectful because I initiated the conversation then wanted to shut it down without hearing his side, that I was just using him for an emotional tampon because I didn't want him to give his opinion, I just wanted to monolog. He said I could have left the house if I didnt want to talk, but as long as I am under his roof he can do what he wants.
The night ended with me having to apologize that the whole thing was my fault, it was my fault for interrupting what he said wrong, and also for being disrespectful and not letting him continue after he started his point. And to accept that because I didnt want to talk I made him keep me up all night. He didnt give an apology. And I didnt ask for one.
But the longer I sit on this the more upset I get. Am I wrong for being mad that he blames me for the whole fight? That he made everything my fault, that he didnt apologize for keeping me awake until 2am, that he didnt see himself in the wrong in anyway?
Im asking for advice here because I know ya'll will give it to me straight, and tell me if Im in the wrong.
there doesn't seem to be anything here
