If women want to be in combat, they must pass EVERY physical test that their male counterparts have to test to the SAME level.
In the British army, Women are not expected to pass fitness tests to the same level as men, this is fine by me, but if they want to do an infantry or front line role, they should fulfill the same physical requirements as their male colleagues.
Everyone depends on everyone in the infantry. Being physically weak will put your entire platoon at risk.

they have to pass separate fitness tests? how different are the female ones do you know by chance? Little absurd that there is two sets of testing. Maybe they should make some platoons of all women soldiers, see how that goes.
I agree that being physically weak is a risk to a whole platoon.

Yet the argument is still pressed that the decision to put women in combat is somehow crucial to women’s self-esteem and to men’s respect for women. It is a constant theme of the Presidential hearings. In discussing the inclusion of women in combat, Professor Lepowsky had this to say: “There might be a significant impact…on female self-esteem, especially for young girls and young women, the idea that male fraternity and male respect of women was possible.”
in the military or not, male respect of women is the same. How does allowing women into the military boost self esteem in young girls? this seems like bs rhetoric just to get what they want.
