Study shows 44 percent of women "bothered" when expected to split date bills. Women who agree with them, what justifies this belief?

Assuming a level playing field of course, as in you're both working, both the same-ish age, and both with similar paying jobs.

If he asked, after the first few dates (and starting after the first few if you asked him out, as I assume the person who asked would pay for the first), what continues to justify this belief?

To clarify "splitting" doesn't have to be literal, alternating is the same concept.

Also I'd be interested if expectations change at all for online dating, where presumably both people would be first-dating with a number of people.
