What is so hard about saying "Don't Marry"?

He should have included a SMV timeline. His peaks at 38, her's at 22. If he gets married at 22, he is at a severe disadvantage that only gets worse with time.

He should have included a section on child extort, child custody and other common-law pitfalls including co-habitation.

+1 for telling his son to have standards, not let shit slide and be aware of red flags.

I've never heard someone describe a physical or mental disability as a red flag before.

I don't think physical is much of a red flag. Mental such as depression I think is a red flag. I was with a girl 5 years ago, who talked about suicide and overdosing. Well I was really into her, put up with her shit, and was there for her all the time. Luckily, it didn't last for more than 6 months and left me for another guy. 5 years later, she's still depressing, absolutely no fun, has none of her own friends...shit like that in my experience just doesn't seem to get better. Be with someone who is a delight to be around. Not someone who buries their head in your shoulder repeatedly wanting you to make them feel better.

I guess it depends on the time, situation, and disorder. Here I was talking about before marriage. If she married me knowing of a mental disorder, then I would expect her to work her way through it with me. I'm not claiming that I wouldn't work through something like this with her either, just that it's something to look out for.

I guess I just have a hard time wrapping my head around this sort of thing. I really wouldn't agree with avoiding anyone because of some disability of theirs. It would seem to be quite a undeveloped view of human relationships.

Which, in itself, is a very poor view of relationships. Is there a ratio of attractiveness I should follow? If I'm a five, is it worth my time going after 9? I could invest heavily and still lose out, whereas if I go for a 6 I'm more likely to 'profit'
