It finally happened. I just received my first injury in YEARS.

And maybe it's just the adrenaline doing it's magic, but it doesn't feel that bad.

Sure, I can feel it, like a mix of numbness & faint pain, but it doesn't feel as bad as I'd imagine it would if I was looking at someone else with my injury.

In case you're curious, the shifter broke on my bike during an up-shift, causing an overshift & throwing the chain off the sprocket, and I was flung into a gravel road. Kind fun, in weird, masochistic sorta way.

But right after it happened, after my excitement died down & I examined my wounds, something dawned on me.

I'd realized that if I'd have been given the chance to anticipate these events, to see what were to happen to me beforehand, it would have made things exponentially worse.

You can probably see where I'm going with this.

See, the longer you anticipate working out, the harder you'll perceive the task to be.

The longer you wait to approach that girl, the greater the anxiety of doing so will be. And as a domino effect, the more likely you are to fuck it up.

The longer you wait to give up your addictions, the more power they will have over you.

The longer you wait to stand up to your bullies (for my high school readers, especially), the more disrespected you'll be.

Don't wait for the perfect moment to get shit done. In almost any situation, the odds of every card being in you're favor is slim to none.

So take the cards you've been dealt, and play them the best you can. Because in this game, there are no second hands.
