*sorry, title should read (plugged beta)

I was recently invited to my beta friend's house where he lives with his gf (hb4). They share half the rent. At the shindig was HB4's two other friends HB3 and closet gay guy (CGG). Everyone is in their mid 20's except beta friend and me (30). As soon as we start drinking, I regret coming because the socialization is super immature and the conversation seems like a masking of ego with dry sarcasm and entitlement discussions "ugh, I hate how apple music has like xyz features only...." just gay shit tbh.

I'm also the midst of an unplug and breakup so I'm kind of mulling over the disillusionment of my current life and new path.

During the night, I couldn't handle the CGG during the conversation and said something along the lines of "You clearly aren't older than HB3 because the way you're acting right now.... you are probably only 23." Then, the wave of horror and indignation across CGG, HB3, and HB4 faces lights up at once... HB4 looks at beta bf and he literally walks up to me and says "Hey, what the heck man. Why are you disrespecting HB4's friend? You can't do that, man.." I say "Dude, it was just a joke.... It's a joke, chill guys.." And the whole night, I feel like a bitch for placating, it was me pretending like I made the social faux, when in fact, the whole night these scrubs are just being immature and stupid.... and in one word, retarded.

I would've left right there, maybe I should've, but I just stayed and let it pass over, but I immediately realized that my only male friend I have is completely a shell of his former self in his early 20's when he had a fiery career, somewhat plating....

That night, it was weird.... it was like he was a robot... automatically sprang into some white knight-esque action as soon as he got a look from his gf... without even understanding the context or trying to attempt to see his BEST FRIEND's reason for that comment.

He later apologized for inviting me to a gathering of a bunch of retarded young kids.... but it's rubbing me the wrong way... I truly can't identify with his "self" anymore... as I'm going through this unplugging process...

Need some advice, do I just keep him around as a beta friend or just slowly let him off and seek out a new positive masculine circle? Thanks in advance.
