Haha oh my god anime is like beta training material.

And I say this having been a big fan of it myself.

Any anime with relationships in them tends to be women / girl worshipping and men too afraid to talk to them. And the beta gets the girl in the end.

It's like the male version of a Disney princess story.

And the beta gets the girl in the end.

PLANETES is different. Hachi knocks up crippled Tanabe, leaves her with his mom, and then goes to Jupiter with his dad for 7 years.

For that matter Wings of Honnêamise is also different. Shirotsugh tries to force himself on Riquinni, she bashes him in the skull, later forgives him, and then he becomes the first man in space.

Odd. Seems like all the hard sci-fi series (even Moonlight Mile) take a cue from The Right Stuff and go out of their way to depict astronauts as regular, flawed people whose defining characteristic is raw ambition.

PLANETES. Can't explain why in a few sentences, you'll just have to watch it. However, this is the moment Hachi breaks through the wall.

You're Under Arrest is absolutely NOT a red pill show but it has an extremely red pill character. Daimaru Nakajima (Ken Nakajima's dad), who is there basically to illustrate how much of a pushover beta Ken is. It's actually kinda confusing, both Natsumi and Miyuki are feminist caricatures, and yet they still more or less accurately depict Miyuki as disgusted by Nakajima's spinelessness, and Natsumi as attracted to powerful men and daredevils.

I've seen a lot of anime with underlying themes that contain a RP mentality. These are mostly anime where the character has to grow and improve through hard work, which is also a core tenet of TRP: Become the best man you can be; improve yourself and you will reap the rewards.

My fav. 2 anime for this kind of thinking are:

Gurren Lagann- main character literally starts at the lowest place you can possibly be. living underground, running away from everything, and his job is digging dirt. All he has is a drill bit (basically a phallic symbol throughout the whole show). By the end, he has risen to the highest place you can possibly be. Not gonna spoil it, but def. worth watching.

Quote from Gurren Lagann: "We evolve, beyond the person that we were a minute before. Little by little, we advance with each turn. That's how a drill works."

And my 2nd RP anime is Hajime no Ippo:

On TRP, we talk a lot about becoming physically strong and working out and also learning a martial art. Well, this anime has all that. Its about boxing and putting in the effort to continually improve. One of my fav. animes of all time.

I love that quote. I have been at the lowest place I could go. I started living in a van when I hit my adult life. The quote “It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything.” motivated my radical way of life. I even managed to attract a mate for some time while living in the van. I have now dropped out of school to focus on a robotics company. I work for another start up on the side. I used to frequent dumpsters for food, supplementing my diet with farmers market food as well. Now I eat at food pantries and live in a house in the hood while funneling my time and money into my robotics company. To the untrained eye, I look like I am poor and broke. To me, I dropped to the lowest I could go in order to build myself back up. I think I will like watching Gurren Lagann.

It's so over the top...but pretty damn awesome.

Ya. I've watched a couple of episodes. It's great.

I've only watched one anime my entire life and that's Naruto. One of the main antagonists, Sasuke, is the definition of Red Pill.

Literally ignores women while completely focusing on his goals. He comes from an elite family who are considered very powerful (good genetics). Every single women in the show wants him hardcore. He never says too much which in the show they describe this as acting "cool". Completely emotionless (despite some scenes involving hardcore drama where showing emotion is ok.) Man I love that show, taught me a lot about discipline and never going off track.

Yeah, most of the villains are quite RP, but we never really get any interaction between them and females. The only time we see it is any of the girls swooning over Sasuke.
