It's a brutal episode centered around a gorgeous blonde (stunning really) named Erin and her emasculated simp of a husband named Jim. The man is a stringy, monotone schlub of legendary proportions, and just looking at him makes me both sad and angry. The show is ostensibly about her drug usage, but what really takes center stage is the slow motion car crash that is her husbands dignity. Going up in flames, the subsequent fireball vaporizing any trace of masculinity he once had (if any). It is so bad it borders on satire. Here are a few highlights.

  • Erin describes her relationship with Jim as her friend from school, whom at one point let her stay at his apartment rent free. After an indeterminate amount of time as her sexless, man-girlfriend / landlord, she finally gave in to one of his many decampment's from the ninth circle of the friend zone and she said (in her words) "fuck it". They had sex a few times, she got pregnant and they got married. If the child is actually his I would be surprised.

  • Apparently her unwillingness to wear a wedding ring was their first fight as a married couple.

  • Jim recounts the time Erin's "friend", who was a recent parolee and Aryan Brotherhood member, broke into their house and stole all their stuff while holding them at gunpoint.

  • When she comes home after staying out all night with a man named Chad (thundercock?) Erin promptly requests Jim's presence in her bathroom. There she proceeds to yell at him about nothing in particular.

  • When her husband asks why she goes out at night with Chad, she blames him for being a bad husband. He then proceeds to ask her whether or not that is the same reason she feels the need to spend time with Ricky and a slew of other men who go unnamed.

  • When he suggests she get off drugs so they can bring their young daughter back into the house she smacks him in the mouth.

  • When he suggests the men (whom he describes as dangerous layabouts) only want his wife for easy pussy. She tacitly admits to him they do have sex and then yells at him for it.

  • At no point throughout the episode, even after the rehab portion, does the wife apologize for basically cuckolding the shit out of this burnt out husk of a man.

  • In the end he rewards her by building them a large lake house.

The whole episode is a nice breakdown of the visceral hatred a woman builds in herself towards a weak man. Her hatred of him throughout the show is so palpable, so consistent, it's a wonder no one thought to do an intervention for him. And even when she's clean, she looks at and speaks to him as if he were a faulty home appliance that had somehow mustered up the gall to have feelings. While none of this is particularly shocking material around these parts. To actually watch the whole process unfold, really is something else.
