I ran across an interesting interview with a female sex expert who was promoting her new book. Here: http://commonhealth.wbur.org/2015/03/come-as-you-are-women-sex

The terminology is very different than what you find here, but the findings -- much of which resulted from the research surrounding the search for Spanish Fly (oops! I mean "pink viagra") -- are all too familiar.

The main idea she's pushing is that women will often have their feet on both pedals at once. They'll feel desire, mental and physical, and yet the impulse to stop may be just as strong. At RP this is referred to as last-minute remorse and slut shame, but the effect is the same. Women are often receiving mixed signals; there's a battle over her actions and more often than not she locks up. The result is that even if she allows you to proceed, she may also have her foot on the brakes. The result? She's tight, she's dry, she's non-responsive. Bad sex.

While they were searching for medically sanctioned Spanish Fly, they realized that a prescription drug, much like a glass of wine, would only reduce a woman's inhibitions by 10%. The sex expert's solution? Sexy lingerie, role playing, smut, comfort.

And here's the part where I repeat what we already know: women take time to get in the mood, which means you must master kino, escalation, and the smooth transition into your warm, comfortable, dimly lit man-cave. For us, sex is yes or no. For women it's a long process that must be managed lest she slam down on the breaks.
