It's because you don't value the relationships. You look for social contact because you are looking for value, whether it be confirming your own social skills or expanding your network with someone who can get you into some interesting internship, etc. Just people that can help you climb higher. If you don't value these friends, you won't care about that contact. How to solve that is completely up to you.

That is not the definition of introvert. An introvert is somebody who prefers calm environments and regains energy being alone.

What you have done is stopped hanging with people you have no common interests with anymore.

I was you a couple of years ago. What I learned: be flexible and use this ability instrumentally. Mediocre, soft looking guys sometimes can help you to climb higher. It's not black and white.
