Hi there, sorry for the throwaway but I don’t want to use my real account for this
I moved to Toronto 6 months ago and I’ve had zero luck with dating apps. I’ve also been super busy with work and moving in/getting settled. Over the past month I’ve been building up the courage to engage in a conversation with a woman whom frequents the same local Starbucks as I do.
When I arrived at the Starbucks today, she was already sitting there. I got my coffee, and with my heart pounding like it was trying to escape out of my chest, I went up to her and introduced myself. I said Hi, I’m (my name). Then I was speaking out the second preplanned sentence when she got up from the table and let out a wailing scream that everyone heard. She said something along the lines of I need to fuck off and not bother her and if she ever sees me again she will call the police
I feel crushed/embarrassed/confused. Did I commit a social faux pas? I don’t think I’ll ever speak to another woman in Toronto again if this is the normal reaction... :(
