We’ve all come to realize that sex is a business transaction and relationships are trade agreements. Extending on this, I’ve come to realize that the job market is very similar to the sexual market. In this case, sex equals money and a relationship equals a job.

Let’s start by looking at a healthy, RP relationship between a man and a woman: the man exchanges his time and commitment and in exchange the women provides not only sex but also an environment where you want to spend time. The last part is key, because we all know a relationship where you are only getting sex but otherwise dislike being in is a waste of your time. You can find a girl to have sex with on every corner of every street, but your time is limited and infinitely valuable. Therefore, a relationship where you aren’t enjoying the time you aren’t having sex makes no sense, and is a terrible deal for you.

Now we’ll enter the job market: at your job, you bring your time and commitment and in exchange get money and work you enjoy and take pride in. If you hate your job and only use it as a way to exchange precious hours of your life for green painted paper textile, you are getting a terrible deal. There’s a billion places where you can trade time4cash. At a good job, you enjoy spending your time. You do things that interest you, where you can practice your skills and use them to create things you are proud of. A company that wants you as an employee hast to create an environment where this is possible, and if not you should already be on your way out. Like on the sexual marketplace, you know your time is valuable and don’t tolerate girls who’s sexual services come with heaps of crap. The opposite is the guy who is so afraid of losing his job yet is treated terribly and is always doing more that he should be. His boss knows this guy won’t leave so he gets treated accordingly. This is the equivalent of the sex-starved beta who gives his girlfriend foot massages and flowers hoping to fuck a life-size fleshlight at the end of the day.

“Wait a second, what if I really can’t find another job?” What if you couldn’t find another girl to have sex with? You would need to increase your SMV. On the job market, you need to increase your Job Market Value (JMV). This means learning skills that are hard to come by, doing good work and making sure you are not easily replaceable at your current job. Someone with a strong résumé has options and his company knows it. Your JMV also depends a lot on what field you are in. Engineers or scientists have skills that require intelligence, devotion and time. The opposite are for example artists, photographers and writers. Everyone can pick up a camera or a typewriter, and on top of that these skills are rarely sought after. A girl can get a hundred guys to give her massages and flowers in exchange for sex at the drop of a hat, but a guy who has his shit together and has a fulfilling life without access to her lady parts is hard to find.

“But you just said do what you enjoy?!” I would enjoy binge watching Breaking Bad whilst dipping doritos in whipped cream, but this obviously isn’t constructive towards my SMV. So instead I go boxing or hiking. I really like these things too, and they will benefit my SMV much more. So I make these my main hobbies, and watch an episode or two of Breaking Bad per week. Even with a full-time job, there’s plenty of time to practice other hobbies like writing or painting.

Keep working on you JMV like you do on your SMV, and have your carreer become as fulfilling as your sex life.
