A song came on the radio this morning. A song I'd heard many times, but never actually heard. "Girls just wanna have fun."

I was listening, thinking "This is fucking stupid," when it clicked. It's not that girls like assholes over nice guys. No ones going to choose someone who treats them like shit over someone who treats them well unless they have deep, fucked up issues. Everything else being equal (looks, money, etc.) they're going to pick the guy that is pleasant, but assertive, over a douche. Everything else being equal.

We treat girls like they're some crazy, complicated thing, when they're not. We're over thinking, over analyzing, and we do that because we're not (or weren't) in the top 10%.

Girls didn't come easy to us growing up. We couldn't accept that this was because we were ugly or short or weird or poor or products of bad parenting, so we put the blame elsewhere. "It's not our fault," we said. "Girls are stupid. Girls like assholes and I'm too nice."

We saw the assholes getting the chicks so naturally we assumed we must be assholes. So we try that and end up with a few, emotionally damaged women and no friends. Not knowing that it's not the asshole girls want, but his fun.

It's not his treating her like shit that gets her wet. It's his looks, his confidence, his ability to make her feel alive. Girls don't want some boring, stoic guy, sitting in the corner, reading his books. They want a guy that can show them a good time. Girls don't really care if they are treated good or bad as long as they get to have fun.
