Here's the thing a lot of people don't consider.

When birthrates drop, it's in countries that are the most educated and technically proficient in things like engineering and the sciences that are the ones that are affected.

Birthrates could drop to literal ZERO in all these, usually, western nations and you would still have a population explosion because the people in poorer, more religious countries whovabsolutely do not care and fuck like rabbits.

On top of that, what you will get over time is a replacement of the cultures that are making scientific advancements and have the potential of getting us beyond the next great filter of the Fermi paradox with those that won't be able to change in time.

While it's not as bad as alarmists make it out to be, we are still on the clock in terms of natural resources on this planet and our ability to harness those resources.

Our best bet to overcome the next great filter is with the current set of societies that are working towards technological solutions right now. I don't think we'll be able to put it off any longer because the available resources are finite, therefore, the longer we wait to advance far enough, the less chance humanity will survive beyond our existence on this planet.

Of course, all of that is only a problem if you still give a shit about the future of humanity as a whole.
