In WW2 20 million Russian men died. After WW2, there was a visual shortage of men in Russia. Russian women earned a reputation of being sexually aggressive. Women who played hard to get or waited for the guy to make the first move lost.

Why does the above matter? Because if a huge number of men drop off the market, the remaining number of men that are still in the market will drown in sex. Which means more incentive not to marry. Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free.
