Many modern women are alcoholics. Legit, the numbers are stunning. Its almost like modern women are trying to make up for centuries of not being binge drinkers.

I guess when you don't look forward to motherhood, most women have little reason to look forward to the future. Drinking just becomes a natural progression.

The anaesthetist told investigators she need to drink before work to “stop her hands trembling”.

You'd think if your hands are trembling, you're better off looking for a more suitable position in the first place instead of forcing the square peg into a round hole, especially when it involve people's lives. But well, gotta need her steady hands to better murder people with.

I don't mean to tell people how to live their life off-duty, so I'm just going to ask this. If she's that drunk, why is she even allowed back to the hospital in the first place? Is this the first time she's ever been called back to the hospital after getting drunk? If it's not the first time, why does she keep doing it anyway? Why isn't the hospital intervening? They clearly knew about her drinking habit, it was mentioned right in the article.

Should not have been allowed to work without proving she was below the legal limit. She had been through rehab several times. I wouldn't condemn her outright, but I wouldn't let her work without proof she was clean. And everyone around her who "smelled alcohol" and did nothing is culpable in this disaster as well.
