Last night a fellow came over to fix my water heater. He was a simpleton, doing work for our mutual landlord to reduce his rent. Given his status he was definitely in the 'beta' position with our landlord, despite the landlord's general 'alpha' attributes.

I am glad that I was there to supervise; I don't need to go into great detail but I have no doubt he would have fucked something up and/or made a huge mess if I wasn't, and it would have taken a lot more time.

Since we were teamworking it, we chatted it up and when he was close to being done I gave him a beer (craft beer too - wasted on this dipshit). The conversation naturally came around to our landlord. He is a pretty awesome guy. We talked about the large number of real-estate properties and various businesses he owns. How he is a wheeler-dealer type and is well connected.

The concept of bro loyalty and respect seems to currently be trending on TRP and is the point of this post. Given our conversation and cooperation so far, I let my guard down a little. I have met several unrelated groups of people who know our landlord due to the fact that he used to be pretty involved in some illicit dealings. Dipshit seemed like a cool guy, so I felt I could share some of my stories/legends regarding our LL in this regard. Like the common descent into debauchery, it all started with the 'gateway' and Dipshit agreed that our LL had the best stuff we had ever been able to find in this area. The legend comes into play as I had actually found out LL had quite a diverse portfolio, was pretty big-time, and had been majorly busted. I shared some of what I knew and the [explicitly stated] RUMORS that I had heard, which weren't necessarily positive but they were just that, rumors. The guy sort of is a legend; he practically has his own lore. He's completely out of the industry now so no harm, no foul right?

Not 5 minutes after dipshit left my house, landlord calls up to chew me out for talking shit about him. Fuckwit couldn't wait to get out of there so he could tattle on me and get some ass-kissing points. After all that comradery, teamwork and good conversation this guy had no problem giving me a 'fuck you' for a little pat on the head.

We've all witnessed this to various degrees in the realm of boy/girl man/woman relations. Weaklings betraying you, talking you down for pussy points, or displaying their superior benevolence towards women - whether that means actual sex or just a rapport-building pat on the head. This encounter served as a reminder to me that any weak-ass person in a position of inferiority has the potential to betray your trust for their own betterment, perceived or real. I'm sure there are plenty of arguments for an 'Alpha' type to use this sort of behavior to his advantage but my focus is on the weak minded losers. I know it's not a new concept, I just felt like sharing the lesson that recently slapped me in the face.
