*I am not looking for sympathy or advice, so please just forget this post and move on if you do not like it.*
Hello, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but I would rather have an understanding community like this one see this rather than any other subreddit, really.
I have been naive for pretty much all my life to what women are capable of doing to naive men like me. I recently moved into a new place with this girl I've been dating for two years. Like most relationships, it was nice and made me happy for a while, but now that we're sharing space she has started to exert control over me. She went ahead and deactivated all my social media accounts except this one, and have lost the last of my male friends because of it. All because she's paranoid I'll message another woman. When I point out that I want some male friends, I get "but what about my friends? Can't you get along with them?" They're also women who are just as insensitive as she's become so no, as a person that experiences way too much empathy, I couldn't possibly get along with them.
I can't leave the house by myself without a good reason which I have yet to find, resorting to me having to sneak out in the middle of the night just to go for a walk to clear my head. These moments only last so long as within minutes, I get a phone call from her demanding me to come back or she'll call the police. The last time I gave up and went back home in the middle of the night, one of the things she said that lives in my memory now is "I always know when you're not here.".
I want to pack a small bag, leave my phone behind, and try again somewhere else. I'm still in my early 20s so I feel as if I could have a chance if I do this. I feel as if I get closer to leaving every day.
The only other people I have are my parents, who of course want the best for their son and to them seeing that to them, this is the best I've done in my whole life, believe that everything is fine. Last year I tried to tell them some of the ways that she is controlling my life, but they dismissed it as "She's just being protective over you, you should be grateful."
Yeah, grateful for this? I wish I could start again from when I was 18, but running away and starting fresh seems like a fleeting opportunity.
Sorry if this rant didn't make sense, my mind has been so scrambled and I haven't talked to another person in months (except her, of course) so I wanted to get this out somewhere. Thanks for reading :)
