I follow them all just out of curiosity. In all of them among the crap there are also valid points and results-producing advice on both sides. Still, the pervasive mindset in all of them I cannot believe is healthy or able of producing ideal outcomes. They are all overflowing with bitterness, resentment, anger, and down right hatred. They don’t even seem to view the opposite sex as human, but rather the enemy.

If you view the opposite sex as an adversary to be outmaneuvered, exploited, etc, I don’t see any way possible to have a true life partner short of putting down that baggage down the road and growing from there. I can’t believe my grandparents viewed each other at all this way in their youth and evolved to the dedicated partners they were in their old age. I can only see the current pervasive mindset of younger generations (of which I am a member) being a positive influence on the health of society. The word that keeps coming to mind is “toxic”. Almost sociopathic.

In my own experience, I have been rich, and I’ve been poor. I’ve been of higher SMV at times and of lower SMV at times. My personal experience hasn’t seen the trend vary much regardless of how the other variables change.

I have no clue how to course correct this trend, but I fear failing to do so will ultimately lead to, at best misery for everyone, and at worst societal breakdown.

I’m currently married to my “soulmate” so this isn’t advice for my benefit, this is my hope for a better landscape for my children. This subreddit is, I think, a baby step in the right direction, but considering the member count relative to the others and if there is a failure to produce results, it is fighting against the tide. We humans seem to have a much easier time sharing hate and blame than love and empathy or having agency. I see parallels in the rise of nationalism /tribalism/*ism. Maybe it just has to run its course since we can’t seem to learn from past mistakes as a society.

Thoughts, suggestions, etc?
