Edit: I’d go so far as to say if I had to in a hypothetical situation give one book to my son and one book only and never talk to him again it’d be the rational male.

I can find faults with both of them... I thought the Rational Male was very good and in some cases an eye opener. But I don't like it when he tries to instigate this war of sexes. Why waste time in a pointless war, when we can love each other for what we are? Men are men and women are women. With all our goods and bads, we're human at the end of the day and like any other species, our main purpose is to ensure the continuous survival of our species. I also think that the whole female imperative concept is stupid. Yes, in western societies, the woman is going to be favored in a direct confrontation with a man (divorce, rape charges, sexual harassment) but that's because by nature she is the vulnerable one (now that there are bitches out there who take advantage of this is a completely different story). However in an indirect confrontation, the man always comes on top (a man is more likely to be taken seriously in a meeting, a man gets paid better, a man is considered more competent). Actually now that I write this, I think it's funny that men, who are the aggressive gender, get screwed in a direct confrontation with a woman, but women, who are the passive gender, get screwed in an indirect confrontation with a man.

With regards to the Book of Pook, I simply find it patronizing. I don't like it when someone talks to me as if they were some sort of deity. I hated it and didn't read past the first few chapters.

But anyways, to answer your question, I'd go with the Rational Male first.
